Kikau Re-Signs with Bulldogs Through 2028, Perth Bears Miss Out

Fiji Bati forward Viliame Kikau has committed to the Canterbury Bulldogs for an additional two seasons, extending his contract until the end of 2028. The talented athlete was a target for the new Perth Bears, but ultimately chose to remain with the Bulldogs.

Kikau, a dual premiership winner with Penrith, faced a challenging first season at the Bulldogs in 2023, where he was limited to just nine appearances due to injury. Despite this setback, he has been a significant contributor to the team, helping them qualify for the last two finals series. His decision to recommit is a positive development for coach Cameron Ciraldo, who aims to end the club’s 21-year premiership drought.

The Bears had hoped to lure Kikau to their franchise, but discussions did not gain traction. Now, it appears that the 30-year-old forward is set to conclude his NRL career donning the blue and white of the Bulldogs. This move not only fortifies the Bulldogs’ squad but also demonstrates Kikau’s loyalty to the club, which can inspire confidence among fans and players alike.
