The popular Kids Free San Diego initiative is back for its 14th year, offering free admissions for children at over 100 locations throughout San Diego County. This month-long event, which runs from October 1 to 31, allows families to explore various attractions without incurring extra costs for kids aged 12 and under.

The program boasts the largest lineup to date, featuring more than 60 museums, aquariums, gardens, and historic sites that are participating this year. Major attractions such as LEGOLAND® California Resort, the San Diego Zoo and Safari Park, SeaWorld, and Belmont Park are joining in, along with a range of cultural spots. Families can anticipate saving up to $1,000 on activities, meals, and hotel stays during this festive period, making it an excellent opportunity for a family getaway.

“October is one of the best times to visit San Diego,” expressed Daniel Kuperschmid, president and CEO of the San Diego Tourism Authority. Families can create lasting memories as they experience the city at a great value, with perfect weather and lighter crowds. Mayor Todd Gloria also highlighted the program’s importance in providing value while exploring San Diego’s family-friendly attractions.

A notable addition this year includes the newly opened Navy SEAL Museum San Diego, which invites families to be among the first to explore its exhibitions. To take part in Kids Free San Diego, parents can download a free coupon from the San Diego Museum Council’s website; each coupon allows free admission for up to two children with a paying adult. Restrictions may vary, so families should check details before visiting.

Beyond museum access, the San Diego Tourism Authority has organized additional deals, including free meals for kids at select restaurants and complimentary accommodations at participating hotels. This initiative emphasizes the importance of making cultural and family experiences accessible for everyone, a sentiment echoed by San Diego Museum Council Executive Director Bob Lehman.

Last year, Kids Free San Diego drew over 145,000 participants, highlighting its success and community engagement. With generous sponsorship from organizations such as the San Diego Foundation, First 5 San Diego, and the Prebys Foundation, this year’s campaign aims to foster creativity and exploration for families in the region.

Kids Free San Diego is more than just an event; it’s an enriching opportunity for families to bond while discovering San Diego’s diverse offerings.
