In a heartfelt video shared with fans on Instagram, Bacon conveyed his love for the character Hub Halloran and the overall experience of creating the show. He mentioned, “Really bummed out that The Bondsman is not coming back for a second season. I really loved walking in Hub Halloran’s shoes, making that show with so many great, talented people.”
Despite the series’ initial popularity—debuting in Nielsen’s Top 10 streaming rankings with impressive viewing figures of 563 million minutes in its premiere week—the show struggled to maintain its momentum. By its second week, it fell off the Nielsen ranks but surprisingly continued to hold a position on Prime Video’s platform Top 10 list, even securing the #1 spot at one point. The series received positive reviews, achieving an 83% rating on Rotten Tomatoes, but did not gain significant traction on social media, which may have contributed to its cancellation.
Bacon took time to acknowledge the loyal fan base that the show cultivated. “For those of you who checked it out and who wrote so many sweet comments — and there were a lot of you — I just want to say thanks, means a lot to me,” he stated.
