Kevin Bacon, star and executive producer of “The Bondsman,” has expressed his disappointment over Prime Video’s cancellation of the supernatural action drama after just one season. In a heartfelt video shared with fans on Instagram, Bacon conveyed his love for the character Hub Halloran and the overall experience of creating the show. He mentioned, “Really bummed out that The Bondsman is not coming back for a second season. I really loved walking in Hub Halloran’s shoes, making that show with so many great, talented people.”

Despite the series’ initial popularity—debuting in Nielsen’s Top 10 streaming rankings with impressive viewing figures of 563 million minutes in its premiere week—the show struggled to maintain its momentum. By its second week, it fell off the Nielsen ranks but surprisingly continued to hold a position on Prime Video’s platform Top 10 list, even securing the #1 spot at one point. The series received positive reviews, achieving an 83% rating on Rotten Tomatoes, but did not gain significant traction on social media, which may have contributed to its cancellation.

Bacon took time to acknowledge the loyal fan base that the show cultivated. “For those of you who checked it out and who wrote so many sweet comments — and there were a lot of you — I just want to say thanks, means a lot to me,” he stated.

“The Bondsman” centers on Hub Halloran, a bounty hunter who is resurrected by the Devil to recapture escaped demons. As he navigates his mission, he confronts his past and seeks redemption, learning important lessons about life and love along the way. The series was produced by Blumhouse Television, Marker 96, and CrimeThink Production Company, with a talented team of executive producers led by Erik Oleson.

While the cancellation news is undoubtedly a blow to fans, Bacon’s appreciation for their support highlights the bond between creators and audiences, fostering a sense of community that often lasts beyond the show’s run.
