Kenya Moore, known for her time on The Real Housewives of Atlanta, is setting the record straight regarding reports about her struggling with bills. Taking to Instagram on Friday, Moore addressed ongoing rumors about her hair salon’s financial difficulties, saying emphatically, “The reports about me being behind on rent are false. My company is in an active lawsuit against my salon landlord for failing to pay nearly $80,000 in tenant improvement allowance owed to me.”
The controversy centers on the Kenya Moore Hair Spa, which launched in Atlanta in 2024. Moore clarified that the legal issue arises from a breach of contract on the part of her landlord, not from a lack of financial resources. She detailed the substantial personal investment she made, stating, “I invested over $300,000 of my own money to build out my salon in a commercial space from a ‘white box’. When the landlord failed to reimburse contractual expenses, I withheld rent in an effort to reach a fair settlement and subsequently filed a countersuit for the amount they failed to reimburse.”
The situation escalated when court documents revealed that a Georgia judge ordered Moore’s company, Moore Vision Media, to make payments totaling $87,976 in two installments set for February and March. The landlord, Northland Chamblee LLC, initiated legal proceedings in October 2025, claiming the salon had ceased paying rent and utilities as early as December 2024. Although the court mandated these payments and set a monthly rent of $5,500 moving forward, the landlord has since intensified its demands, asserting that Kenya missed the first payment deadline and is now seeking to evict her from the premises.
Despite the mounting legal pressure, Moore is poised to challenge both the landlord and negative public perceptions. She aims to engage with her supporters directly, inviting them to join her live on YouTube this Sunday at 5 p.m. Eastern to discuss her situation further. “Thank you, Team Twirl. You are the best fans on the planet!” she added, demonstrating her commitment to keeping her followers informed and supportive during this challenging time.
