Kennedy’s Crossroads: Partner with Trump or Forge a New Party?

Robert F. Kennedy Jr.’s running mate has indicated that the independent presidential candidate is contemplating a partnership with Donald Trump’s campaign or the alternative of establishing a third party. In a recent podcast appearance, Nicole Shanahan expressed concerns about the potential consequences of a Kamala Harris presidency, suggesting that they are weighing both options to mitigate this “risk.” She accused the Democrats of “sabotage,” alleging the presence of insiders within their campaign.

Kennedy has faced numerous challenges in his ambitious third-party bid, including legal battles regarding ballot access in various states and issues related to campaign funding.

“We are considering two paths: one is to remain in the race and create a new party, which carries the risk of splitting votes with Trump, potentially leading to a Kamala Harris and Tim Walz presidency,” Shanahan stated on the podcast “Impact Theory” with Tom Bilyeu. “Alternatively, we could withdraw and join forces with Donald Trump, and we would need to communicate this decision to our supporters.” She acknowledged that this decision is complex.

In response to Shanahan’s remarks, Kennedy stated on X, formerly Twitter, that he remains open to discussions with leaders from any political party to advance the objectives he has championed throughout his career. Shanahan expressed her belief that the country would be in better hands under Trump’s leadership than with the Democratic nominee, Vice President Kamala Harris. She dismissed recent claims that the Kennedy campaign was engaged in discussions with Harris’s team regarding potential endorsements or cabinet roles.
