Kendrick Lamar’s recent venture, the Grand National Tour with SZA, is turning into a historic milestone for the Compton rapper as he continues to break impressive records. After an electrifying performance at Lumen Field in Seattle on May 17, Lamar has set a new benchmark in the music industry, grossing an outstanding $14.8 million in a single night. This achievement makes him the first rapper ever to earn over $14 million from one concert.
The Seattle concert was not only a financial success but also the most attended show of the tour, attracting nearly 61,000 fans. This turnout surpassed previous record-holding performances, including Lamar’s earlier concert at AT&T Stadium in Dallas, which had grossed $11.822 million.
Additionally, Lamar has surpassed The Weeknd’s previous record for the highest single concert earnings, which stood at $9.8 million during his 2022 show at SoFi Stadium. The opening night of the Grand National Tour in Minneapolis also bolstered Lamar’s record-breaking streak, accumulating over $9.1 million from more than 47,000 fans.
Beyond live performance records, Lamar has been making waves on music charts as well. His track “Not Like Us” has made history by spending a full year on the Billboard Hot 100, a first for any rap song. Even after its release last May, it remains a chart contender, currently sitting at number 22.
Moreover, his collaboration with SZA on “Luther” has also reached remarkable heights, staying at the top of the Billboard Hot 100 for an impressive 13 consecutive weeks, marking it as the longest-charting Hip Hop number one in history.
Kendrick has yet to publicly comment on these remarkable achievements, but his continued success showcases a bright future ahead for the rapper in both live performances and recorded music. This optimistic trajectory not only reflects his talent but also highlights the significant impact of hip hop in the music industry today.
