A natural gas leak led to an explosion at the Kelton House Museum & Garden in downtown Columbus on Wednesday afternoon. The blast, which occurred at approximately 2:33 p.m., was reported after firefighting crews arrived on the scene to investigate the gas leak. Columbus Division of Fire Battalion Chief Jeffrey Geitter indicated that while crews were assessing the situation, an explosion occurred, causing a fire and resulting in part of the museum collapsing.
