Kelsey Grammer is offering an intimate look into his fulfilling life as a father of eight at the age of 70, celebrating the recent addition to his family. Just weeks after confirming that his wife, Kayte Walsh, welcomed their fourth child together, the actor described life as “awesome and fantastic.”
In an interview with People, Grammer shared, “The family’s ecstatic. We’re all really having a great time. It’s really lovely.” The couple, who are already parents to Faith, 12, Gabriel, 10, and James, 8, have now expanded their family, bringing the total to eight kids. In a lighthearted moment on iHeartRadio’s “Pod Meets World” podcast, he remarked, “We just had our fourth one, so it just became eight kids,” further highlighting the chaos and joy that comes with a large family.
Grammer, who has three older children—Spencer, 41; Greer, 33; and Mason, 23; and son Jude, 20—from previous relationships, expressed pride in the close bonds they’ve developed. “We are closer than we’ve ever been as a family,” he noted, reflecting on the joy of raising children across such a broad age range. He finds spending his days with the younger trio incredibly rewarding, saying, “They are amazing, and they make my life worthwhile.”
With the holiday season approaching, Grammer eagerly anticipates creating new family memories. He shared that each year the family enjoys a Christmas roast dinner featuring prime rib, turkey, and Yorkshire puddings, and he makes sure to have a beautifully decorated tree shortly after Thanksgiving. He humorously explained the challenge of tree shopping in California, noting the high prices typically associated with celebrity status and opting to have someone fetch the tree instead.
Several of Kelsey’s children are also pursuing careers in the entertainment industry, following in his footsteps. His daughter Spencer has made her mark in shows like “Rick and Morty” and “Greek,” while Greer has appeared in productions such as “Awkward” and the reboot of “Frasier.” Both daughters revealed that while their parents did not push them towards acting, they encouraged their passions and interests, allowing them the freedom to explore their dreams.
Grammer’s journey through fatherhood, filled with love and laughter, shines light on the beauty of family connections, demonstrating that age is just a number when it comes to embracing the joys of parenthood.
