Inglewood, California – Kawhi Leonard showcased an impressive performance, scoring 45 points as the Los Angeles Clippers overcame a late-game scare to defeat the Utah Jazz 118-101 on Thursday night. This victory marks the Clippers’ sixth consecutive win, a season-high streak for the team.

Leonard’s outstanding night included taking the lead in scoring during the fourth quarter, where he singlehandedly matched the Jazz’s total points in that period with 20. His determination was evident, even battling through a visible scratch on his nose. The Clippers found their shooting rhythm as they nailed seven consecutive three-pointers, with Leonard contributing four of those shots. Nicolas Batum also had a strong showing, finishing with 14 points and hitting 4 of 6 from beyond the arc.

Despite being shorthanded without three key starters, the Jazz fought back valiantly. Kyle Anderson led the team with 22 points, marking his first 20-point game in nearly three years, and also recorded eight rebounds, a season-high. Brice Sensabaugh added 20 points, with Cody Williams contributing 18 points and Isaiah Collier finishing with 16 points and 10 assists.

The matchup started favorably for the Clippers, who built a quick 28-7 lead, as the Jazz struggled with their shooting, missing their initial six attempts and managing just one rebound in the first six minutes. However, the Jazz rallied in the second quarter, outscoring LA 33-22, narrowing the halftime gap to 53-50.

The Jazz, contending with injuries to Keyonte George (illness), Lauri Markkanen (knee), and Jusuf Nurkic (toe), have now lost six of their last eight games. They managed to score 58 points in the paint and their bench outperformed the Clippers’ reserves, scoring 51-40.

Looking ahead, the Jazz will face the Golden State Warriors on Saturday, while the Clippers will host the Boston Celtics on the same day. The Clippers are riding on a wave of momentum as they prepare for a crucial matchup against a formidable opponent.
