The LA Clippers have made the decision to send Kawhi Leonard home from their current road trip for treatment of knee irritation. The team announced that Leonard incurred a left knee contusion last Saturday, which has led to the current discomfort. He is scheduled for re-evaluation when the Clippers return home on Wednesday.
According to Chris Haynes of NBA on Prime, there is no indication that the injury is serious. However, given Leonard’s history of knee issues, the situation will be monitored carefully. This season, Leonard has been performing exceptionally, averaging 28.2 points per game with a 39.9% shooting rate from beyond the arc, in addition to contributing 6.3 rebounds and 3.5 assists per game. His impressive performance makes him a strong candidate for selection as an All-Star Game reserve.
Interestingly, the Clippers managed to secure a victory in the only game Leonard missed due to this injury, overcoming the Raptors in overtime. This win is part of a remarkable run for the Clippers, who have now won 12 of their last 14 games, putting them in contention for a play-in tournament spot after a challenging start to the season at 6-21.
With Leonard’s return on the horizon, the Clippers remain a team to watch as they aim to build on their recent success.
