Katy Perry Reveals Emotional Journey Through Breakup with Orlando Bloom

Katy Perry recently opened up about her emotional journey regarding her nearly year-long breakup with fiancé Orlando Bloom during an appearance on Alex Cooper’s “Call Her Daddy” podcast. The singer, now 39, reflected on her relationship, noting that she and Bloom, who started dating in 2016, had a separation from 2017 to 2018 before reconciling and getting engaged in 2019. The couple shares a four-year-old daughter, Daisy.

During their time apart, Perry shared that communication was limited as Bloom maintained boundaries. She emphasized the importance of self-work before being able to strengthen their relationship. “We all have our strengths and our opportunities for growth,” Perry said, mentioning Bloom’s supportive nature when she struggles. She acknowledged her tendency to appear independent and tough, stating, “I do need help, I do need a partner,” and expressed the emotional realization of having needs.

Perry recounted how, during the early stages of their relationship, they were at different points in their personal development. Following their split, Bloom attended a transformative therapy program, which influenced his approach to their relationship. Perry described her frustration with the push-pull dynamic they had, leading her to eventually explore the same therapy program, which she found life-changing.

Through this process, Perry realized that she often sought external validation, particularly during the release of her 2017 album “Witness.” She admitted that her self-worth was overly dependent on outside opinions rather than intrinsic value.

Reflecting on her connection with Bloom, she mentioned his adventurous spirit and loyalty as initial attractions. Their commitment to personal growth and relationship work has deepened their bond, with Perry noting that each step forward sometimes leads them to confront difficult emotions in order to elevate their relationship.
