Kathleen Marie “Kat” Wiens, aged 75, passed away on February 11, 2026, at Hospice House in Hutchinson, Kansas. She was born on January 19, 1951, in Wichita, Kansas, to Albert Daniel and Jacqueline Ruth (Johnson) West.
A graduate of Wichita West High School in May 1969, Kathleen pursued higher education at Fort Hays State and Hesston College, ultimately earning her degree from Bethel College in May 1992. She initially built a career in marketing and advertising before transitioning to the nursing field as a Registered Nurse. Kathleen had a variety of interests, including hunting for Indian artifacts, reading, shopping, and a passion for interior design and art, particularly oil paintings. Notably, she was an active supporter of the Hutchinson Kennel Club.
Kathleen was previously married to Ron Knott, who passed away in 2012. She later married Larry A. Wiens, who survives her.
She is survived by her stepchildren, Aaron and wife Kathy Wiens, Katie Wiens, and Brennan Smith, as well as step-grandchildren Aaron and Dylan. Additionally, she leaves behind her beloved friend, Kendra Taber, and three sisters. Kathleen is preceded in death by her parents and her first husband, Ron Knott.
Cremation has taken place, and no services are planned. Memorial contributions may be made to the Hutchinson Kennel Club, directed to Elliott Mortuary, located at 1219 N. Main, Hutchinson, KS 67501. Kathleen’s legacy will live on through the fond memories shared by her family and friends.
