Kate Middleton has announced that she has completed her chemotherapy treatment.
In a video released on Monday, the Princess of Wales expressed that she is entering a “new phase of recovery” following her cancer diagnosis revealed in March. The video featured Middleton with Prince William and their three children.
“As summer comes to an end, I can’t express how relieved I am to have completed my chemotherapy treatment. The past nine months have been extremely challenging for our family. Life can change drastically in an instant, and we have had to find ways to navigate through this difficult time,” she stated.
She added, “The cancer journey is complicated, frightening, and unpredictable for everyone, especially for those closest to you. It forces you to confront your vulnerabilities in ways you may have never imagined, providing a new perspective on life. This experience has reminded William and me to reflect on and appreciate the simple yet vital aspects of life that many of us often overlook. It’s about loving and being loved.”
Middleton also emphasized that her focus now is on staying cancer-free. “While I have completed chemotherapy, my journey to healing and full recovery is still lengthy, and I must continue to approach each day as it comes.”
She expressed her eagerness to return to work and engage in more public activities in the coming months as she is able.
“Despite everything I have faced, I enter this new phase of recovery with renewed hope and appreciation for life,” Middleton said. “William and I are incredibly thankful for the support we have received, drawing immense strength from everyone assisting us during this time. The kindness, empathy, and compassion from all have been truly humbling. To everyone on their own cancer journey, I stand with you, side by side, hand in hand. From darkness can emerge light, so let that light shine bright.”
In a previous message shared in June, the Princess of Wales expressed gratitude for the well wishes she received amid growing concerns about her health. At that time, she provided an update on her treatment, which she confirmed was still “ongoing” and expected to last for “a few more months.” “On days when I feel well enough, I enjoy engaging with school life and finding time for activities that give me energy and positivity, alongside starting to work a little from home,” she shared then.
“I am learning patience, particularly amid uncertainty,” she noted. “I am taking each day as it comes, listening to my body, and allowing myself this necessary time to heal. Thank you all for your continued understanding and to those who have courageously shared their stories with me.”
