Kate Hudson and Hugh Jackman are feeling the chemistry of a longtime married couple after filming their new romantic drama, “Song Sung Blue.” During an exclusive interview with Page Six at the 2025 Gotham Awards, Jackman mused, “We only shot for 36 days, but it really does feel like we were married [for] a long time.” Hudson was quick to echo his sentiment, sharing, “Yeah, we were married a very long time!”
The film showcases the duo as a couple who perform in a Neil Diamond tribute band, amplifying their on-screen connection. Hudson, known for her role in “Almost Famous,” expressed her satisfaction with the collaborative atmosphere on set, noting, “It was so easy for us … the work was fun.” She credited Jackman for creating a warm environment, highlighting his commitment to the project from the start, even before a script was in place.
“Song Sung Blue” derives inspiration from a documentary about musicians Mike Sardina, known as “Lightning” (played by Jackman), and Claire Sardina, dubbed “Thunder” (played by Hudson), who take audiences through their journey as tribute performers. Hudson remarked that she was unaware of the extensive catalogue of Neil Diamond’s hits before filming, realizing just how prolific the legendary artist truly is.
Jackman, who proudly calls himself a fan of Diamond, emphasized the artist’s monumental status, stating, “If he never stepped on a stage, he’d be an icon.” He hopes that “Song Sung Blue” will rekindle interest in Diamond’s music among younger audiences, providing an opportunity for a new generation to appreciate the timeless hits.
