In a tragic incident in Karur, Tamil Nadu, 36 individuals, including eight children, 16 women, and 12 men, lost their lives in a stampede that occurred during a political rally led by TVK leader Vijay on Saturday evening. The stampede resulted in over 40 people being hospitalized, receiving treatment for various injuries. The state government has established a one-man commission, led by retired Justice Aruna Jagadeesan, to investigate the circumstances surrounding the tragedy.
Chief Minister M.K. Stalin expressed his grief over the incident and announced a compensation of Rs 10 lakh to the families of the deceased.
