Sony has officially unveiled the trailer for the upcoming film “Karate Kid: Legends,” set to hit theaters on May 30. This new installment in the beloved martial arts franchise features Ralph Macchio, who reprises his iconic role as Daniel LaRusso from the original 1984 classic, alongside Jackie Chan, who returns as Mr. Han from the 2010 remake.
The film introduces a new character, Li Fong, portrayed by Ben Wang. Wang, who was selected following a global casting call that attracted thousands of young actors, brings a diverse range of martial arts expertise to the role, including karate, kung fu, and taekwondo. In an interview, he expressed excitement about being part of a project that combines his childhood inspirations with personal experiences, having recently lived in Beijing, where the film is partially set.
The cast also features Ming-Na Wen as Li Fong’s mother, with Joshua Jackson and Sadie Stanley in supporting roles. The film is directed by Jonathan Entwistle, known for his work on Netflix’s “I Am Not Okay With This,” and is based on a screenplay by Rob Lieber, recognized for his work on “Peter Rabbit.”
This new chapter not only pays homage to the original films but also aims to engage a new generation of fans by blending nostalgia with fresh talent and storytelling. As the anticipation builds, “Karate Kid: Legends” promises to deliver an exciting experience for audiences, continuing the legacy of one of the most beloved franchises in cinematic history.
In a hopeful twist, the film highlights the universal themes of mentorship, resilience, and the pursuit of mastery—values that resonate strongly across cultures and generations.
