Columbia Pictures has unveiled the official trailer for the highly anticipated film, “Karate Kid: Legends,” generating excitement ahead of its theatrical release on May 30, 2025.
The film stars newcomer Ben Wang alongside legendary actors Jackie Chan and Ralph Macchio, reprising his iconic role as the original Karate Kid.
The storyline follows a young kung fu talent named Li Fong, played by Ben Wang, who must navigate his way through personal loss after a family tragedy. Relocated from Beijing to New York City with his mother, Li grapples with the challenge of fitting into a new environment. He is reluctant to engage in fights, but conflict seems to be an unavoidable part of his journey. When a friend is in need, he steps into the ring at a karate competition. However, it’s clear that his raw skills alone won’t suffice. To prepare him, his kung fu mentor, Mr. Han, portrayed by Jackie Chan, brings in the expertise of Daniel LaRusso, played by Ralph Macchio. Together, they guide Li to combine his unique style with their teachings for an epic martial arts duel.
The film is directed by Jonathan Entwistle, with Rob Lieber writing the screenplay. It is produced by Karen Rosenfelt, with Ralph Macchio and Jenny Hinkey as executive producers.
