Kansas State vs Baylor: Early Kickoff Test for a Turnaround

Kansas State football fans are gearing up for another early start following the previous home game against UCF. The Big 12 has announced that the Wildcats will play Baylor in Waco in two weeks with an 11 a.m. kickoff. Historically, K-State leads the series 11-10, although Baylor holds a slight 6-5 advantage in games played in Waco. The Wildcats have emerged victorious in their last two encounters, winning 31-3 in Waco in 2022 and 59-25 at home in Manhattan in 2023. The teams did not face each other last season.

The Wildcats are keen to halt their challenging start to the season, which has seen them go 1-3 in their first five games. Head Coach Chris Klieman remains optimistic, emphasizing the progress made during their recent break. “It was a productive week,” Klieman remarked, noting the team’s focus on simplifying strategies and increasing physicality during practice. As they prepare for their upcoming game, Klieman remains eager to witness this improvement translate into a solid on-field performance.

In more somber news, UCF is mourning the loss of its offensive line coach Shawn Clark, who passed away unexpectedly at the age of 50. Clark had previously been the head coach at Appalachian State for five seasons and was reported stable after a medical emergency earlier in September. UCF head coach Scott Frost, along with Klieman, extended heartfelt condolences. “My heart goes out to his family and the UCF athletic family. Enduring such a loss during the season is unimaginable,” Klieman expressed.

On a positive note, Kansas State fans are hopeful for the return of Dylan Edwards at running back. Edwards is expected to be back at full speed after an injury that kept him sidelined for most of the season. His anticipated return offers a boost to the team as they prepare to face Baylor.

Saturday’s game is set for another early kickoff at 11 a.m., broadcast on FS1. Kansas State is eager to turn the tide in their season and showcase their potential on the field.
