KANSAS CITY, Mo. – The Kansas City metro area has faced significant disruptions following a severe weather event that brought down trees and power lines and resulted in localized flooding. Reports from the National Weather Service confirm widespread damage predominantly caused by strong winds.
In Jackson County, numerous incidents were reported, including fallen trees and power lines near Gregory Boulevard, limbs downed near 65th Street, and a significant tree collapse at 55th and Troost Avenue. Grandview experienced similar issues, with trees and wires down near Indian Village and additional limb debris at the Ward Parkway Shopping Center.
Platte County was not spared, with flooding reported along Ridgley Highway E, affecting travel towards Camden Point. Other areas like Clinton County and Nodaway County reported downed limbs and flooded roadways.
In the surrounding regions, Wyandotte County and Johnson County in Kansas saw power poles and large trees down, further complicating conditions for residents. Arshona Nelson captured striking images of a snapped tree near 89th and Ann Avenue, and additional sightings of downed trees were reported near State Avenue and 90th Street.
