KANSAS CITY – Kansas City Athletics is thrilled to unveil a partnership with the Jewish Community Center of Greater Kansas City (The J), aimed at enhancing youth programs, boosting fan participation, and providing unique events and opportunities through the Roo Athletic Fund.
Dr. Brandon Martin, Vice Chancellor and Director of Athletics, emphasized the significance of this collaboration, stating, “As Kansas City Athletics strives for excellence, it is vital to forge partnerships with organizations that embody excellence within the Kansas City community. The J has been a cornerstone of our community for many years, and this alliance will enable both entities to strengthen their bonds with local residents, making Kansas City a standout city.”
The J stands as one of Kansas City’s largest community centers, offering a diverse array of programs geared towards all age groups, with an emphasis on youth sports. This partnership will enrich The J’s offerings by leveraging Kansas City Athletics’ resources and expertise.
Bob Hennecke, Director of Sports and Recreation at The J, expressed his enthusiasm about the collaboration, saying, “The Roos are a significant part of Kansas City, and we look forward to organizing events with various teams while encouraging our participants to engage more deeply with our local Division One institution.”
This partnership marks a noteworthy advancement for both organizations, providing valuable resources and enriching experiences for the community. The collaboration will also focus on co-marketing opportunities and special events that will benefit both parties.
Jason Sautter, Manager of Sports and Recreation at The J and former Assistant Men’s Basketball Coach at Kansas City, shared his perspective, stating, “This is a win-win situation for both The J and Kansas City Athletics. With over 13,000 members at The J, we see this partnership as an excellent opportunity. It enables young participants to connect with Division One athletes and grants Kansas City Athletics access to our extensive member network.”
The partnership officially commenced in August, featuring a mini-clinic run by Kansas City Volleyball, led by Head Coach Christi Posey and volleyball student-athletes. Kansas City Soccer is set to follow with a series of mini-clinics in the spring, focusing on the development of young athletes and providing resources to The J’s youth coaches. Furthermore, the Roos will offer group ticket pricing for The J members, facilitating easier access to local sports events.
Throughout the year, youth teams from The J will receive recognition during Kansas City Athletics games, allowing them opportunities to interact and build relationships with Kansas City’s student-athletes. As the basketball season nears, a special event featuring the Kansas City Men’s and Women’s Basketball teams will launch this fresh partnership.
