Kansas City Athletics has announced a new partnership with the Jewish Community Center of Greater Kansas City (The J), aimed at enhancing local youth programs, boosting fan attendance and engagement, and providing special events through the Roo Athletic Fund.

Dr. Brandon Martin, Vice Chancellor and Director of Athletics, emphasized the importance of fostering relationships with exemplary community programs. He noted, “As Kansas City Athletics strives for intentional excellence, it is essential to connect with organizations that reflect excellence within the Kansas City community. The J has been a cornerstone for decades, and this partnership will help both entities strengthen their presence in this vibrant city.”

The J is recognized as one of the largest community centers in Kansas City, offering a broad spectrum of programs for all age groups, with a notable emphasis on youth sports. The collaboration will enhance The J’s services by incorporating resources and expertise from Kansas City Athletics.

Bob Hennecke, Director of Sports and Recreation at The J, expressed enthusiasm about the partnership. “The Roos play a vital role in Kansas City, and we look forward to hosting events alongside various teams, as well as increasing participant involvement with our local Division One institution.”

This partnership signifies a major advancement for both organizations, providing valuable resources and exciting community experiences. Opportunities for mutual co-marketing and special events will be significant for both parties.

Jason Sautter, Manager of Sports and Recreation at The J and former Assistant Men’s Basketball Coach at Kansas City, remarked, “This is a win-win for both The J and Kansas City Athletics. With over 13,000 members at The J, this partnership enables young kids to connect with Division One athletes, while Kansas City Athletics gains access to our extensive member network.”

The partnership officially began in August with a mini-clinic hosted by Kansas City Volleyball, featuring Head Coach Christi Posey and volleyball student-athletes. Kansas City Soccer is set to follow with a series of spring mini-clinics aimed at nurturing young athletes and guiding The J’s youth coaches. The Roos will also offer group ticketing rates for members of The J, facilitating access to local sports events.

Throughout the year, youth teams from The J will be showcased during Kansas City Athletics games, providing opportunities for these teams to engage with Kansas City’s student-athletes. As the basketball season approaches, a special event featuring both the Kansas City Men’s and Women’s Basketball teams will officially launch the new partnership.
