Kansas City Athletics Teams Up with Local Community Center for Youth Programs!

KANSAS CITY – The Kansas City Athletics have announced a new partnership with the Jewish Community Center of Greater Kansas City (The J) that aims to enhance local youth programs, boost fan engagement, and create special events through the Roo Athletic Fund.

Dr. Brandon Martin, Vice Chancellor and Director of Athletics, emphasized the importance of this collaboration. “As Kansas City Athletics strives for intentional excellence, it is essential for us to connect with community programs that exemplify this quality,” he stated. “The J has been a cornerstone of the community for decades, and this partnership will enable both organizations to deepen their engagement with the Kansas City community.”

The J stands out as one of the largest community centers in the city, offering a variety of programs for all ages, particularly focused on youth sports. This partnership will enhance The J’s offerings by incorporating the resources and expertise of Kansas City Athletics.

Bob Hennecke, Director of Sports and Recreation at The J, shared his enthusiasm for the collaboration. “The Roos are a vital part of Kansas City, and we are eager to host events with different teams while involving our participants with our local Division One institution.”

This partnership marks a significant advancement for both organizations, providing essential resources and exciting community experiences. Co-marketing opportunities and special events will also be crucial for both groups’ growth.

Jason Sautter, Manager of Sports and Recreation at The J and former Assistant Men’s Basketball Coach at Kansas City, expressed optimism about the partnership’s potential benefits. “With over 13,000 members at The J, we believe this is a fantastic opportunity for both sides. It allows our youth to connect with Division One athletes and gives Kansas City Athletics access to our extensive member network.”

The partnership will officially commence in August with Kansas City Volleyball hosting a mini-clinic led by Head Coach Christi Posey and student-athletes. Kansas City Soccer plans to conduct a series of mini-clinics in the spring, focusing on the development of young athletes and providing resources to youth coaches at The J. Additionally, the Roos will offer group ticket pricing for The J members to facilitate their attendance at local sports events.

Throughout the year, youth teams from The J will be recognized during Kansas City Athletics games, allowing them to interact with student-athletes. As the basketball season approaches, a special event featuring the Kansas City Men’s and Women’s Basketball teams will inaugurate this partnership.
