A tragic incident unfolded in Kane, Pennsylvania, when a high-speed vehicle crash led to a fatal fire early Sunday morning. According to Pennsylvania State Police in Ridgway, the accident occurred at approximately 3:53 a.m. on September 21, along North Fraley Street.
The vehicle, heading south, collided with a concrete curb on the west side before veering into the Wine and Spirits store, affecting the apartments located above. The impact set the vehicle ablaze, which subsequently ignited the building. Unfortunately, the driver was pronounced dead at the scene.
The Kane Volunteer Fire Department promptly responded to the scene at 3:54 a.m. The situation was dire, with the fire chief reporting a car embedded within the structure amidst heavy smoke and flames. Given the severity and size of the fire, both a second and third alarm were raised to address the escalating situation.
In a coordinated rescue effort, firefighters successfully retrieved three victims from the engulfed building. The Pennsylvania State Police are actively investigating the incident to ascertain further details surrounding the crash.
