Member of Parliament and former Deputy Prime Minister Manoa Kamikamica is set to have his application for a permanent stay reviewed in the Suva High Court next Wednesday. During an appearance before Magistrate Charles Ratakele, Kamikamica was represented by Senior Lawyer Wylie Clarke of Howards Lawyers.
Kamikamica faces allegations from FICAC, charged with one count of perjury and one count of providing false information to a public servant. The accusations stem from a period between December 1, 2024, and March 31, 2025, during which Kamikamica is claimed to have made a false statement under oath regarding his involvement in the appointment of the FICAC Commissioner. Moreover, it is alleged that he repeated this false information to the Commissioner of Inquiry.
The proceedings in the Magistrate’s Court have been postponed and are now scheduled to resume on January 29 of the following year. As this case progresses, it highlights the significant scrutiny public officials face regarding their conduct and statements under legal obligation.
