Kaiser Permanente’s Award-Winning Float: A Celebration of Health and Inclusion at the Rose Parade

Kaiser Permanente is thrilled to announce that it has received the Wrigley Legacy Award for its float at the 2025 Rose Parade. This float symbolizes the organization’s commitment to enhancing the health of its members and the broader communities it serves. Greg A. Adams, the chair and CEO of Kaiser Permanente, emphasized the importance of their integrated care model, which focuses not only on clinical excellence but also on the holistic well-being of its members—encompassing physical, mental, and social health.

The 2025 float showcases a stunning design featuring a sun made with yellow strawflower, white rice, and gold clover seeds, surrounded by stars crafted from yellow button mums. A vibrant rainbow of carnations stretches across the float, culminating in a tranquil moon decorated with white rice and gray lettuce seed. Standing 28 feet tall, 18 feet wide, and 55 feet long, this float was meticulously created by the Phoenix Decorating Company, showcasing a dazzling array of colors, textures, and floral arrangements.

During the parade, eleven Kaiser Permanente members and caregivers proudly rode on the float, alongside nine athletes, coaches, guardians, and volunteers from Special Olympics Southern California, reflecting a strong commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion. This local partnership underlines the float’s theme—illustrating how inclusivity and connection play a vital role in fostering lifelong health and well-being.

Kaiser Permanente has a history of successful float entries, having won numerous awards, including the President Award in 2024 for exemplary floral usage, and the Grand Marshal’s Trophy in 2016. Their dedication to creativity and community engagement continues to shine through their participation in this cherished event.

The Pasadena Tournament of Roses organization, which hosts the Rose Parade and the Rose Bowl Game, relies on the dedication of its volunteers for its success, with themes that celebrate joy and community spirit. The 136th Rose Parade is set to take place on January 1, 2025, and promises to be an unforgettable celebration.

In summary, Kaiser Permanente’s recognition at the 2025 Rose Parade highlights its commitment to health and well-being, showcasing the importance of community and inclusivity through vibrant displays of creativity in the form of their award-winning float. It’s a hopeful reminder of how health organizations can play a significant role in fostering a sense of community connection and well-being.

This event serves as an inspiring example of how celebrating diversity and inclusion can enhance public health awareness while bringing people together in a joyful setting.
