The float itself is a stunning presentation featuring a sun adorned with yellow strawflower and white rice, along with a rainbow made of vibrant carnations. It also boasts a tranquil moon at the rear, decorated with various floral materials and surrounded by stars. Standing tall at 28 feet, with a width of 18 feet and a length of 55 feet, the float is a true showcase of artistic floral design, crafted by the Phoenix Decorating Company, and is enriched with various fruits and vegetables.
During the parade, eleven Kaiser Permanente members and caregivers will ride on the float, accompanied by nine athletes, coaches, and volunteers from Special Olympics Southern California. This partnership underpins the float’s theme, which celebrates inclusivity and community connection as core components of lifelong health and wellness.
Kaiser Permanente’s floats have a history of success, having won several awards over the years, including the President Award for outstanding floral presentation and the Grand Marshal’s Trophy for excellence.
