Extra Bula FC winger Kaile Auvray is determined to make a significant impact in the OFC Pro League as his team gears up for its second match of the season. After an encouraging start that saw the team draw 2-all against Vanuatu FC at Eden Park in their opening match, Auvray was instrumental in contributing to both goals and is now eager to help his team secure its first win.
At just 21 years old, Auvray understands the weight of his responsibilities on the pitch. “I think my role is more or less the same in every match, regardless of when the game is or who we’re playing. Obviously, I’m a winger, so my job is to bring impact, put the ball in front of goal, take shots, and help defensively,” he explained. He also highlighted the importance of his creative input in the game, stating, “What I’m being asked to do is create opportunities—whether for myself or for players like Roy and Micah, so they can capitalize on them.”
With a rich background that includes experience with the United States under-17 team and representing Saint Martin, Auvray’s skills are set to enhance Bula FC’s performance. His football journey has taken him to Fiji, where he plays alongside his father, who serves as the coach of the team.
As Bula FC faces South Island United in their upcoming clash, Auvray is expected to be a pivotal player in what promises to be a competitive midfield contest. Setareki Hughes, a talented midfielder and former captain of Rewa FC, will also play a crucial role in Bula FC’s strategy, aiming to challenge their New Zealand opponents alongside captain Roy Krishna and Maikah Dau. “The most important thing for me tomorrow is to be myself, play my own game, and support the team. Obviously, we’re facing a strong side,” Hughes remarked.
Currently sitting in fourth place, Bula FC is set to take on eighth-placed South Island United FC at 2 PM at Eden Park. As the players prepare for the match, there is a palpable sense of optimism within the team as they strive to deliver their best performance and finally secure their first win of the season.
