Kadavu and Ba Aim for Fiji Rugby Semi-Finals at Lawaqa Park

The Kadavu and New World IGA Ba Women’s rugby teams have both advanced to the semi-finals in their respective competitions at Lawaqa Park. Kadavu’s team secured a tightly contested victory against Tavua, edging them out 30-29 in an exciting Vodafone Vanua Cup quarter-final match. The game was evenly matched at halftime, with a score of 10-all, thanks to tries from Samuela Nagatalevu for Kadavu and Seveci Tora for Tavua. In the second half, Kadavu managed to clinch the victory with additional tries from Josefa Baleiloa and Mikawele Tiwa, complemented by successful kicks from Savenaca Durusolo. Despite Tavua’s impressive tries by Vetero Ramatau, Semi Ralulu, and Naibuka Qarau, Kadavu held onto their lead.

Kadavu’s coach, Jo Bola, praised his team for their discipline and adherence to the game plan. On the other side, Tavua’s manager, Apakuki Tuitavua, voiced disappointment over the conduct of Tavua’s coaches towards the match officials, stressing the need for good sportsmanship and acceptance of refereeing decisions.

In the women’s Royal Tea Ranadi Cup, the defending champions Ba delivered a remarkable performance, defeating Nukuloa with an overwhelming 102-15 scoreline. Ba’s captain, Tuliana Ragadi, attributed their success to divine blessing, the support from sponsors, and their dedicated fans. Ba will face Rewa in the upcoming round, while Tavua will take on Macuata in another Ranadi Cup semi-final.

Kadavu’s recent achievements, including their strong showing against the Northern Bulls to reach the Vodafone Vanua Trophy quarterfinals, have been notable. Simultaneously, the Ba Women’s rugby team continues to impress with their strategic gameplay and robust community involvement, solidifying their status as formidable competitors in Fijian women’s rugby.

The progress of teams like Kadavu and Ba not only highlights their potential but also exemplifies their contributions to the development of rugby in Fiji. Their journey is a testament to the power of community support and the athletic prowess that inspires the next generation of athletes, fostering a positive impact on the sports landscape in the region.
