Justyn Ross, a former Clemson standout, is officially parting ways with the Kansas City Chiefs after requesting his release. According to NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero, the Chiefs waived Ross on Wednesday. He had been on a reserve/future deal but is now looking for a new opportunity after spending parts of the last three seasons with the team.
Ross was promoted from the practice squad just prior to the AFC Championship Game this year but saw limited playing time, participating in only two games during the 2024 season without recording a catch. Over two years, he made a total of 12 appearances, with six receptions totaling 53 yards, and one start.
Ross’s NFL career began in 2022, but it encountered challenges due to a foot surgery during the preseason that placed him on injured reserve during his rookie season. Despite the setbacks in his professional journey, Ross had a remarkable collegiate career at Clemson, where he registered 158 catches for 2,379 yards and 20 touchdowns in 39 games. Even with a significant neck/spine injury sidelining him for the entire 2020 season, Ross’s performance ranks him among the best in Clemson history, standing tied for fifth in receiving touchdowns and tenth in receiving yards.
Now recovered and eager for a fresh start, Ross seeks to revitalize his professional career with a new team in the NFL.
