Officials at Prudential Center are taking steps to inform concertgoers following Justin Timberlake’s unexpected postponement of his show at the Newark venue on Tuesday.
Timberlake announced the postponement on Instagram shortly before the concert was set to begin, citing “an injury that is preventing me from performing.” He expressed his disappointment, stating, “I’m so disappointed to not see you all – but I’m working to reschedule ASAP. I promise to make it up to you and give you the show y’all deserve.”
The Prudential Center is collaborating with Timberlake’s team to arrange a new date for the concert, although no rescheduled date has been confirmed at this time. Ticketholders are advised to keep their tickets, and the venue will notify them via email when there are updates regarding the event status or a new date.
Fans are encouraged to follow both the artist and venue on social media for the latest news and are reminded to check their inboxes for updates from their original point of purchase.
Many fans shared their disappointment on Instagram, criticizing the timing of Timberlake’s announcement. They highlighted the costs incurred for travel and childcare and expressed they would have appreciated an earlier notice. Others, however, demonstrated empathy for Timberlake, suggesting he could have sustained the injury right before the performance or received medical advice against going on stage.
“I highly doubt Justin would cancel so last minute if he didn’t absolutely need to,” one commenter remarked.
Timberlake is currently on The Forget Tomorrow World Tour, which began on April 29 in Vancouver and has featured over 50 performances across North America and Europe. His next concert is slated for Friday at the Wells Fargo Center in Philadelphia.
This tour has faced challenges, as Timberlake was arrested on suspicion of driving while intoxicated in Sag Harbor, New York, in June. Last month, he entered a guilty plea to a lesser charge, resulting in a fine and community service.
