The latest installment in the beloved Jurassic franchise is set to premiere in July 2025. Universal Pictures and Amblin Entertainment have provided exciting updates, including the film’s title, initial plot details, and a pair of sneak peek images.
Titled Jurassic World Rebirth, this new chapter will feature a screenplay by David Koepp, who previously wrote for Jurassic Park and The Lost World. The film will be directed by Gareth Edwards, renowned for his work on Godzilla and other notable projects like Monsters and Rogue One: A Star Wars Story.
The star-studded cast includes Scarlett Johansson, Mahershala Ali, Jonathan Bailey, Rupert Friend, Manuel Garcia-Rulfo, Luna Blaise, David Iacono, Audrina Miranda, Philippine Velge, Bechir Sylvain, and Ed Skrein. Steven Spielberg, who launched the franchise over 30 years ago, is among the executive producers, along with Denis L. Stewart and Jim Spencer. Frank Marshall and Patrick Crowley are producing the film.
In the newly released production stills, viewers can see iconic scenes reminiscent of the Jurassic series: one featuring a character igniting a flare, likely to distract a dinosaur, and another showing people gazing up in awe at a mysterious spectacle among tall grass.
Jurassic World Rebirth unfolds in the same universe created by writer-director Colin Trevorrow, set five years after the events of Dominion. With Earth’s ecology shifting dramatically, dinosaurs that escaped from Lockwood estate are struggling to adapt. The synopsis reveals that these remaining creatures reside in isolated equatorial ecosystems, and the three largest dinosaurs hold the secret to a life-altering drug for humanity.
Johansson plays Zora Bennett, a covert operations expert leading a secret team to collect genetic material from the colossal dinosaurs. However, their mission takes an unexpected turn when they encounter a civilian family affected by a dinosaur attack. Together, they uncover a shocking truth that has been concealed for decades.
The cast also features Mahershala Ali as Kincaid, Zora’s trusted team leader; Jonathan Bailey as paleontologist Dr. Henry Loomis; Rupert Friend as Martin Krebs, a representative of a pharmaceutical company; and Manuel Garcia-Rulfo as family patriarch Reuben Delgado, among others.
Jurassic World Rebirth is expected to stomp into theaters next July, with an exact release date still to be announced. The complete Jurassic Park/World collection is currently available for purchase from Universal Pictures Home Entertainment.
