The Ada County Sheriff’s Office has reported a noteworthy trend for the 4th of July, marking the lowest number of fire-related dispatch calls in recent years, despite a significant uptick in illegal firework complaints.

From 12 a.m. on July 4 to 6 a.m. on July 5, the ACSO received a total of 549 complaints regarding illegal fireworks—comprising 364 calls and an additional 185 text messages to their administrative line. This figure represents the highest number of firework complaints recorded since 2017.

In contrast, the number of fire-related incidents reported during the same timeframe was only 10. This is a remarkable decrease when compared to the previous years, which saw 43 fire-related calls in 2024 and 62 in 2023. This year’s figures indicate the fewest fire-related calls documented in the available records dating back to 2017.

This shift underscores the effectiveness of safety measures and public awareness campaigns aimed at reducing fire hazards associated with fireworks during the holiday. It highlights a positive trend in the community’s response to fire safety, allowing for a festive celebration with fewer incidents to report. The report not only reflects the ACSO’s ongoing commitment to public safety but also points to an encouraging trend in community vigilance.
