Julianne Hough embraced a bohemian twist on the classic little black dress during a book signing event for her new novel, “Everything We Never Knew,” held on Monday in New York.
The “Dancing With the Stars” cohost donned a midi dress from Simkhai’s fall 2023 collection, which showcased a square neckline and a unique lattice fringe at the hem. She complemented her outfit with a patent leather purse and black slingback pumps, finishing off her look with silver hoop earrings.
Simkhai’s fall collection is noted for its blend of reimagined classics and contrasting hard and soft elements. Hough’s stylist, Jennifer Mazur, who has also worked with stars like Olivia Culpo and Alessandra Ambrosio, curated the look for the day.
For the event, Hough opted for a sleek straightened blond bob, while her makeup included beige eye shadow paired with a coral lip shade.
In an interview with People, Hough shared how her debut novel was influenced by her personal life. “Everything We Never Knew” was co-written with Ellen Goodlett. Hough described the writing experience as a transformative period in her life, saying, “I was starting to feel things and see things and have these really heightened awarenesses that felt magical.”
Last year, during the “DWTS” finale, Hough wore a striking black Versace gown, which had made its debut on the runway for the fall 2023 collection. She remarked on the dress’s iconic status, sharing her excitement about closing her season in such a notable designer piece, emphasizing its alignment with themes of female empowerment. Hough praised Donatella Versace for showcasing strong femininity and the empowerment found in embracing one’s sexuality.
