The Chairman and CEO of the National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON), Professor Abdullahi Saleh Usman, recently shared insights from his delegation’s visit to the Hira Cultural District in Makkah, describing the experience as both deeply emotional and spiritually enriching. This site, known for its significant connection to the life of Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) and the initial revelations of the Holy Qur’an, provided a unique opportunity for the Nigerian delegation to immerse themselves in Islamic history.
The visit, made possible by the Mashaariq Al-Dhabia Company, allowed members of the NAHCON delegation to explore the region surrounding the Cave of Hira, which holds immense spiritual significance. During the visit, Professor Saleh Usman emphasized the importance of retracing the paths walked by the prophets, particularly from Adam through to Prophet Muhammad (S.A.W). He described the experience as “historic and deeply enjoyable,” bringing to life accounts that many had previously only encountered in scripture.
Reflecting on the prophet’s journey, Professor Usman remarked on the steep paths that Prophet Muhammad would ascend alone, dedicating nights to worship and contemplation before returning to his wife. This personal connection, he explained, provided the Nigerian pilgrims with a profound opportunity to reconnect with the struggles and spiritual devotion of the Prophet.
The emotional impact of the visit was notable, with many pilgrims expected to return home inspired and carrying lasting memories. This experience highlights the power of history and spirituality in reinforcing faith and encouraging a deeper understanding of religious practices.
