Josh Charles, known for his role in “The Good Wife,” recently shared his delightful experience shooting Taylor Swift’s upcoming music video for “Fortnight.” However, he couldn’t resist bringing up a lighthearted encounter with Travis Kelce, the Kansas City Chiefs’ tight end and Swift’s fiancé.
During an appearance on “The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon,” Charles addressed rumors of a scuffle with Kelce on set, first suggested by his former “Dead Poets Society” co-star Ethan Hawke in a previous interview. Charles put those rumors to rest, stating, “A fight? No, he exaggerated this. It wasn’t a fight.”
The actor recounted how he called out Kelce for his performance during the Chiefs’ 2023 AFC Championship game, where they defeated Charles’ hometown team, the Baltimore Ravens. “I’ve always liked Travis Kelce. I just thought he was so cool,” he reflected, adding that Kelce’s attitude after the game didn’t sit well with him.
On set, Charles confronted Kelce, saying, “You know, I always liked you and this year you were kind of a d***,” to which Kelce responded with laughter, acknowledging the impact of his competitive swagger during the game. He shared his strategy for that match, noting that getting into the heads of the Ravens players was key to their victory.
Despite the friendly banter, Charles praised Kelce as “a good dude” and one of “the most fun human beings,” showing a newfound admiration for him. Although he values their friendship, Charles confessed that he struggles to watch Kelce play, saying, “I can’t root against him.”
This amusing exchange between the two stars highlights the camaraderie and respect that can exist between players and fans, even amidst competitive rivalries. It’s a reminder that sports can foster connections and understanding, transcending the heat of competition.
