Buffalo Bills quarterback Josh Allen proudly holds the longest active consecutive start streak among current NFL quarterbacks. At 29 years old, Allen is set to make his 127th straight regular-season start this Sunday, marking his 140th start if postseason games are included. Head coach Sean McDermott confirmed Allen’s readiness for the game, emphasizing the quarterback’s commitment to never miss an appearance.

Allen briefly lost the active streak record due to an unusual quirk involving former quarterback Philip Rivers. Rivers returned to the NFL without a break in his consecutive starts because he was retired and off an active roster until the last three weeks when he was immediately reinstated as a starter. However, during a meaningless Week 18 game, the Colts benched Rivers in favor of rookie Riley Leonard, giving Rivers a final tally of 243 consecutive starts.

Among current NFL players, the only other individual with over 100 consecutive starts is Atlanta Falcons tackle Jake Matthews, who has an impressive streak of 195. Following Allen, Jared Goff trails with 68 consecutive starts at the quarterback position.

Looking at historical records, Allen ranks eighth in the list of most consecutive starts by a quarterback in NFL history, which is led by legends Brett Favre (297 games) and Philip Rivers (243 games). Interestingly, Allen’s streak does not coincide with his first career starts; he missed games early in his rookie season due to an elbow ligament injury.

This record showcases not only Allen’s physical resilience but also his significance to the Bills’ offense. As he continues to build on his impressive streak, the football community watches with anticipation, hopeful that Allen can maintain his health and lead his team to further successes.
