Jordyn Woods and Karl-Anthony Towns have taken a significant step in their relationship, announcing their engagement after five years of being together. The news was shared by Woods on December 25, through an Instagram post featuring heartfelt photos of Towns proposing on a balcony, accompanied by the caption, “Marry Christmas 🎄❤️💍.”
The couple, who transitioned from friends to lovers, began their romantic relationship in May 2020, making their bond public by September that same year. Towns reflected on their journey during an Instagram series hosted by Woods in 2021, sharing that their friendship evolved over the years and became deeper amid the challenges posed by the pandemic. He stated, “The Covid situation kind of forced us to either pick where our relationship was going to go as friends or something more. And we chose the latter.”
In November 2023, Woods emphasized the importance of their strong foundation built on friendship and trust, which has contributed to their lasting relationship. “We were really good friends before we started dating, and Covid gave us that free time in our life to really get to know each other,” she explained to People magazine.
The couple has navigated several trials and successes together. Woods reflected on how these challenges have strengthened their connection, while Towns expressed gratitude for Woods’ unwavering support, both in his basketball career and personal life. “You know, with my mom and my sister, I’ve seen the impact that good women have on men’s lives, and I’m just blessed that I saw that firsthand before I got with Jordyn,” he shared in a February 2024 interview.
Looking back, Towns had previously hinted at the possibility of engagement, addressing critics in 2021 about their relationship future, stating, “Same haters we got now are gonna be the same ones we have when I put that ring on her finger.” As they embark on this new chapter, Woods and Towns serve as a reminder of how love can flourish and grow, even amidst life’s obstacles.
