Nikola Jokić has a deep passion for both his horses and winning, but his priorities lean toward the NBA championship. In a recent interview with ESPN’s Malika Andrews, the Denver Nuggets star was posed a choice between winning another title or celebrating victories with his horses. Without hesitation, he chose the championship, saying, “NBA championship right now.”

The horse theme continued throughout the NBA All-Star Weekend, particularly when Jokić’s former teammate, DeMarcus Cousins, inquired whether he would prefer his horses to win every year or add another Most Valuable Player (MVP) award to his accolades. After initially expressing joy at seeing Cousins, Jokić stated that he would favor his horses winning since he already boasts three MVPs.

Jokić’s fondness for horses is well-documented, and it provided a lighthearted atmosphere at the All-Star events. However, despite the enjoyment he derives from his equine companions, Jokić is acutely aware that his main goal is to secure NBA titles. Having led the Nuggets to their inaugural championship in the 2022-23 season, he remains focused on repeating that success. Presently, the Nuggets are strong contenders, positioning themselves in third place in the Western Conference standings.

With a career that includes three MVP awards, an NBA Finals MVP, seven All-NBA selections, and eight All-Star selections, Jokić is establishing himself as one of the league’s all-time greats. Achieving a second championship would certainly enhance his legacy among basketball’s elite players. The upcoming playoffs will be a crucial time for Jokić and the Nuggets as they aim for more success on the court.
