Fiji's Joe's Farm Unveils $4M Samabula Development and Dalo Processing Facility

Joe’s Farm Expands in Fiji with $4M Samabula Complex and Dalo Processing Facility

Investment Fiji has unveiled a $4 million development initiative in Samabula, led by the well-known supermarket chain, Joe’s Farm. As part of this ambitious plan, a four-storey, mixed-use commercial complex will be constructed, featuring a supermarket, various retail outlets, and office spaces. The project is anticipated to be fully completed by early 2026, with Joe’s Farm having secured an adjacent property to expand the development’s footprint.

In parallel, Joe’s Farm is collaborating with New Zealand-based Cibus to establish a dalo processing facility in Colo-i-Suva. This facility aims to bolster Fiji’s agricultural exports, with a production capacity of 20 tonnes of dalo per week targeted for the New Zealand market. The facility is expected to be operational by the end of 2025.

These strategic ventures highlight Joe’s Farm’s growing footprint in Fiji’s commercial and agricultural sectors. The project aligns with Fiji’s broader movement toward boosting local production capacities, promoting sustainability, and enhancing economic resilience, particularly in the agricultural industry. Notably, these investments contribute to community development through job creation and improved market opportunities for local farmers.

The current agricultural landscape in Fiji is undergoing significant transformation, with various investments and facility upgrades paving the way for economic diversification. By focusing on sectors like agriculture, Fiji is strategically moving away from a heavy reliance on tourism, embracing opportunities for sustainability and self-reliance.

Looking ahead, initiatives like those from Joe’s Farm are set to offer substantial benefits for rural farmers, increasing agricultural productivity and improving the livelihoods of those in the farming community. This forward-thinking approach points towards a hopeful and positive outlook for Fiji’s economic horizon.
