Renowned country music singer-songwriter Joe Ely has passed away at the age of 78, succumbing to complications from Lewy Body Dementia, Parkinson’s disease, and pneumonia. His family confirmed the news, noting that Ely died peacefully at his home in Taos, New Mexico, with his wife Sharon and daughter Marie by his side.
Ely had previously shared his health struggles with fans in a heartfelt statement on Facebook, revealing his battles with Lewy Body Dementia and Parkinson’s disease. He and Sharon used their journey to raise awareness about these conditions, emphasizing the healing power of music. Their initiative included plans to release some of his recently discovered recordings, a project that brought joy to Ely during his final days.
