João Pedro is feeling confident about his position in Chelsea’s attack following his transfer from Brighton. As the team prepares for the semi-finals of the FIFA Club World Cup against Fluminense, he expressed belief in his ability to complement the playing styles of teammates Liam Delap and Nicolas Jackson.
In his comments, João Pedro noted, “Every team has a different style of play. Delap has his style, Jackson another, and I have mine. But I think this is beneficial for Chelsea. I believe that those who bring the most positive contributions to the team will earn their place. We all have to work hard, and then Enzo (Maresca) will decide. He is a very good, intelligent coach who tries to make everything simpler for us.”
Reflecting on his move to London, the forward mentioned his dedication to training during his vacation. “I was in Brazil with my friends in Rio, but I have a personal trainer and also did workouts to stay prepared. Imagine if I hadn’t been training and Chelsea called me… It would have been more challenging. I was with family and friends but ensured I stayed in shape.”
João Pedro also shared that his knowledge of Chelsea’s interest pushed him to intensify his training, allowing him to be ready when the club reached out. “When they called me, I was prepared. Not at 100%, but well enough to come and train. I made my debut and feel I demonstrated my readiness. Now I hope to play tomorrow. It has been a fantastic experience, so we’ll see what happens.”
This enthusiasm and commitment highlight João Pedro’s determination to succeed at Chelsea, setting a promising tone for the upcoming match and his career in the Premier League. As teams continue to evolve, the combination of varied styles and sportsmanship will bring excitement to the game and provide opportunities for players like João Pedro to shine.
