Dr. Jill Biden donned a lilac blazer as she accompanied her husband, President Joe Biden, on his departure from the White House in Washington, D.C., heading to Chicago for the Democratic National Convention on Monday night.
The First Lady’s outfit featured a double-breasted blazer by Ralph Lauren Collection, complete with peak lapels and crown-engraved buttons, which she paired with white trousers and her signature Dior floral pumps. President Biden opted for a navy blue suit, complemented by a red and blue tie and Ray-Ban aviator sunglasses.
Several politicians, such as Vice President Kamala Harris and former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, have historically chosen to wear purple at major political events, including Biden’s inauguration in January 2021. Representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez was also spotted in purple in Chicago ahead of the DNC.
Jill Biden frequently showcases American designers, often wearing Ralph Lauren at public events. Notable occasions include the opening ceremony of the Paris Olympics in July, a state dinner for Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi in June 2023, and the coronation of King Charles III in May 2023.
Kamala Harris is set to launch the Democratic National Convention on Monday, which is expected to gather around 5,000 delegates over its four-day duration. Notable guests will include former U.S. Presidents Bill Clinton and Barack Obama. President Biden and First Lady Jill Biden will also share the stage with Hillary Clinton, Chicago Mayor Brandon Johnson, Rep. James E. Clyburn, New York Governor Kathy Hochul, and others on the first night of the convention.
