JGR Clinches Historic 7th NASCAR Xfinity Series Owner’s Championship

The No. 19 Toyota GR Supra team, representing Joe Gibbs Racing (JGR), secured a significant victory by clinching the 2025 NASCAR Xfinity Series (NXS) owner’s championship at Phoenix Raceway on Saturday, thanks to a commendable runner-up finish by driver Aric Almirola. This marks the seventh owner’s title for JGR in NXS history, a testament to their sustained excellence in the sport, with all championships earned in collaboration with Toyota.

Throughout the 2025 season, the No. 19 team showcased remarkable versatility with multiple drivers behind the wheel. Aric Almirola led the charge, participating in 17 races and securing three critical wins at Phoenix Raceway, Bristol Motor Speedway, and Las Vegas Motor Speedway. Other drivers included Justin Bonsignore, Riley Herbst, Jack Perkins, Christopher Bell, Chase Briscoe, and Ty Gibbs, further emphasizing the team’s depth and collaborative spirit.

The strength of the No. 19 team was reflected in their impressive performance statistics, including 10 top-five finishes and 13 top-10 finishes throughout the season. Additionally, Christopher Bell captured a pole position at Darlington Raceway, underlining the competitiveness of the team. JGR’s involvement in the owner’s Championship 4 marks a fourth consecutive year, with this championship being their second title within the last four seasons and a repeat of their success from 2016.

Toyota’s overall presence in NXS racing since 2007 has been marked by 218 victories, with the Toyota Supra contributing 69 of those wins. The GR Supra has proven to be a winning platform for JGR, succeeding the earlier Toyota Camry, which dominated in the earlier years of competition.

In a statement reflecting on this achievement, Aric Almirola emphasized the team’s collaborative effort, acknowledging the contributions of crew chief Seth Chavka and the rest of the crew. He articulated his gratitude not only for the victory but also for the legacy of J.D. and Coy Gibbs, reinforcing the notion that the championship is a collective triumph rather than an individual milestone.

Ty Gibbs also expressed his pride in the team’s recent successes and the familial ties that bind them, highlighting the importance of the legacy and future of JGR.

Dedra DeLilli, vice president of marketing communications at Toyota Motor North America, celebrated the partnership between Toyota and JGR, recognizing this championship as a culmination of a successful season fueled by hard work and collaboration.

As JGR and Toyota look ahead, this achievement serves as a promising milestone in a storied partnership, with a commitment to continued excellence in the NASCAR series. The championship not only elevates the team’s status in racing history but also reflects a hopeful future for Joe Gibbs Racing and its loyal fanbase.
