Jets Reunite with Veteran Kicker Nick Folk Ahead of 2024 Season

Aaron Glenn, the head coach, announced on Tuesday that kicker Nick Folk has signed with the New York Jets, according to Zack Rosenblatt from The Athletic. Folk has an interesting history with the Jets, having played for the team from 2010 to 2016. In the 2024 season, he showcased his skills with the Tennessee Titans, participating in 14 regular-season games and impressively converting 21 out of 22 field-goal attempts. Notably, he was perfect on all six of his kicks from over 50 yards and successfully made all 25 of his extra-point attempts.

As Folk approaches his 41st birthday, he is positioned as the frontrunner to take the starting kicker role for New York in Week 1, contingent on his performance during training camp. His main competitor for the position will be Harrison Mevis, a standout from the UFL, particularly after the Jets waived kicker Caden Davis earlier this week.

Folk’s experience and successful track record could provide stability to the Jets’ kicking game as they look to improve their special teams unit. The organization appears to be making strategic moves to strengthen their roster ahead of the new season, with veteran presence being a key factor. If Folk maintains his form and consistency, he could become a crucial element in New York’s strategy for the upcoming season.
