Jets’ Mike Williams Faces Trade Rumors Amid Roster Shake-Up

Mike Williams appears to be on the trading block as the New York Jets look to adjust their roster following the recent acquisition of Davante Adams. NBC Sports’ Mike Florio reports that Williams is likely to be among the players explored for possible trades in the coming weeks, placing him in a crowded wide receiver lineup.

With the addition of Adams, Williams finds himself as the odd man out, as Garrett Wilson and Adams are poised to form a strong tandem. Allen Lazard is also expected to take on the No. 3 receiving role, further diminishing Williams’ position on the team.

Williams, who is recovering from a torn ACL, has reportedly lost favor with quarterback Aaron Rodgers after a critical mistake in the recent loss to the Bills. During the game, with just over two minutes left, a long pass intended for Williams resulted in an interception after he slipped and failed to run the correct route.

After the game, Rodgers expressed his frustration, stating that Williams was supposed to continue down the field but instead ran an ‘in-breaker,’ which led to the interception. Since joining the Jets from the Chargers, where he played for seven seasons, Williams has struggled to connect with Rodgers, tallying only 10 receptions for 145 yards.

In contrast, during his tenure with the Chargers, he consistently recorded at least 43 catches in each of his last five full seasons. The Jets had signed Williams to a one-year deal worth up to $15 million in the offseason.
