JetBlue Airways, traditionally known for its straightforward all-coach service, has undergone significant transformation in the last decade. The airline has evolved from offering basic services to introducing premium options, beginning with the launch of its lie-flat Mint cabin in 2014, followed by international flights to Europe, and now, the anticipated introduction of domestic first-class seating.

In a landmark move, JetBlue is set to unveil its first-ever airport lounge named “BlueHouse” at New York’s John F. Kennedy International Airport (JFK) on December 18. This venture marks a pivotal expansion in JetBlue’s offerings and represents the airline’s efforts to enhance customer experience in a more exclusive environment.

Located in JFK Terminal 5, the BlueHouse lounge spans 9,000 square feet over two levels and accommodates 140 guests, geared towards providing a premium experience without the overcrowding typical of many airline lounges. JetBlue has stated that access will be limited to certain elite customers, including holders of the JetBlue Premier World Elite Mastercard, Mosaic 4 loyalty program members, and passengers traveling in the Mint cabin to Europe. This strategy aims to prioritize customer comfort by avoiding long queues, an issue commonly faced in existing lounges.

The design of BlueHouse is inspired by a chic, New York City apartment aesthetic, featuring Art Deco elements, navy blue and gold accents, eclectic lighting, and works from local artists. The lounge will host two bars and a variety of seating arrangements, designed to foster a relaxing and inviting atmosphere reminiscent of a friend’s living room.

While the initial food offerings will focus on grab-and-go options rather than a full buffet or sit-down service, JetBlue plans to collaborate with local culinary partners to provide quality meal choices, including breakfast and lunch items that reflect the essence of New York dining. The lounge aims to evolve its dining options in the future, with an expanded kitchen potentially coming in 2026.

JetBlue executives have emphasized their commitment to providing an exclusive experience, ensuring that top-tier members enjoy their time without waiting in lines, a focus that differentiates BlueHouse from many other airline lounges that struggle with crowding. Starting February 2026, the airline plans to introduce annual and day pass options for a broader audience, allowing additional customers to enjoy this new space.

As JetBlue prepares to launch its initial lounge at JFK, there are plans to expand the BlueHouse concept to other airports, including a proposed location at Boston Logan International Airport and Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport.
