Jessica Simpson may have taken a break from music for over ten years, but she still showcases her professionalism and poise on stage. During her performance on the “Today” show’s Citi Concert Series on July 23, the 45-year-old singer experienced a minor wardrobe malfunction when her pale pink satin corset-style top slipped down, revealing a glimpse of her pink bra. Handling the situation with humor, she reassured the hosts, saying, “Of course, I have, like, a malfunction here and everywhere. But it’s OK. I think my boob stayed in, so that’s good.”
Simpson, who last released a Christmas album in 2010, has returned to the music scene with her two-part EP, “Nashville Canyon,” with the first half dropping in March. During her set, she performed a mixture of new and classic hits, including “Fade” from her upcoming EP and the 2005 song “These Boots Are Made for Walkin’.”
Reflecting on her recent songwriting experiences, Simpson described them as “incredibly healing.” She shared how living in Nashville during a challenging period allowed her to focus on her purpose amidst personal upheavals. “I was trying to inspire myself to get back up there, have the courage to do it in the face of heartbreak and the face of life completely changing,” she noted.
Earlier this year, Simpson confirmed that she and her husband of ten years, Eric Johnson, were “living separately” as they navigated a difficult time in their marriage. The couple shares three children: daughter Maxwell Drew, 13, son Ace Knute, 12, and daughter Birdie Mae, 6.
Simpson’s return to music not only marks a new chapter in her career but also serves as a testament to resilience and personal growth, showcasing her ability to turn challenges into creative inspiration.
