The ruling from the Goyang Branch of the Uijeongbu District Court on May 9 determined that the allegations made by the individual, referred to as A, were unfounded. The court ordered that A and the publisher, B, must cease the distribution of a book that falsely claimed Jenny was A’s daughter, and mandated the deletion of related content from A’s social media accounts.
The controversy emerged from a novel published by A that prominently featured Jenny’s name and logo, suggesting a familial relationship without any factual basis. This led to confusion among Black Pink fans and the dissemination of misleading information, including claims in a book titled “The House of Geumsujeo.”
Jenny, who had never spoken publicly about her biological father, took action to halt the spread of fake news through her agency, OA Entertainment, back in September of last year. Following a formal complaint filed against A and publisher B for the distribution of misleading publications, the court confirmed a claim amount of 200 million won.
In its decision, the court emphasized the lack of evidence supporting A’s claim of paternity, stating that public records specify a different individual as Jenny’s father. It ruled that A must withdraw any content implying a paternal relationship and clarified that such actions constituted a violation of personal rights.
