Jen Affleck has responded to viewers of “The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives” who have labeled her third pregnancy a “band-aid baby,” following her brief separation from her husband, Zac Affleck. In an exclusive interview, Jen expressed that while people may have their opinions, discovering she was pregnant was ultimately a tremendous blessing. She reflected on her mindset during the show’s second season, admitting, “I definitely think that I wasn’t in the right headspace…I wasn’t sure that my priorities were straight either.”
Jen, 25, shares two children, Nora and Luca, with Zac, who is 28. She noted that their third pregnancy forced her to confront and recalibrate her priorities during a tumultuous phase in their marriage. “Truthfully, finding out we were pregnant was the last thing we expected,” she confessed. The news was initially overwhelming and came amidst the couple’s marital challenges, following a rocky season 2 of the reality show.
The series, which premiered in September 2024, has brought significant attention to the couple’s relationship dynamics. Since starting their relationship in 2018 and marrying the following year, Jen and Zac have faced various obstacles, particularly highlighted during the show’s first season which explored their struggles. “It was definitely rocky after season 2… we’re finally seeing light at the end of the tunnel after all of that chaos,” Jen explained.
As season 2 unfolds, Jen revealed that it captures some of the darker moments in their marriage but acknowledges the growth that has stemmed from these experiences. Despite the challenges, she emphasized that both partners in a relationship can work through difficulties if they are committed to putting in the effort. “You can always make it work,” she stated.
Jen also shared how her pregnancy spurred her to prioritize her mental health, with some of her transformation attributed to her exploration of therapy, including ketamine treatment. “It was definitely a game changer,” she remarked, appreciating how this journey has enabled her to become a better version of herself.
With a renewed sense of gratitude and understanding, Jen is now looking forward to embracing motherhood once again, recognizing the lessons she has learned throughout this experience. “I’m truly grateful for this baby and all this pregnancy journey has taught me,” she concluded.
