Emmy-nominated comedian Jeff Ross is set to bring his new solo theatrical show, “Take A Banana For The Ride,” to Broadway’s Nederlander Theatre this August. The much-anticipated show will kick off previews on Tuesday, August 5, with the official opening night scheduled for Monday, August 18. This limited engagement is expected to run for eight weeks, concluding on Sunday, September 29.
Renowned as “The Roastmaster General” for his three-decade-long career in celebrity roasts, Jeff Ross plans to provide a deeply personal insight into his life through this show. The title is inspired by advice from his late grandfather, promising an intimate and revealing experience that captures the essence of the comedian. Audiences can expect a mix of humor and heartfelt stories, along with the signature roast-style comedy that Ross is famous for.
The production will be directed by Stephen Kessler, with contributions from Jeff Calhoun and dramaturgy by Seth Barrish. It is being produced by Eric Nederlander, Robert Nederlander Jr., Marc Cornstein, and Tony Eisenberg, alongside executive production from ShowTown Productions.
Ross expressed his enthusiasm for the project, reminiscing about his childhood experience of seeing Jackie Mason on Broadway. He hopes his show will not only entertain but also provide a cathartic experience for attendees, encouraging them to bring friends who might need a lift from their struggles. The performance promises a night filled with raw humor, uplifting narratives, and even live roasting of fearless audience volunteers.
This upcoming theatrical venture is a testament to Ross’s evolution as a performer, showcasing his ability to blend comedy with poignant life experiences, ultimately aiming to connect with the audience in a meaningful way.
